Prologue

Three hundred years from now, Earth will become unlivable.  Instead of sitting and waiting for its inevitable end, humanity launched its most intensive space program since the Space Race; this time, however, all countries worked together and eventually founded multiple colonies to become new Earths.  Some… did not make it.  Others flourished for nearly one hundred years.  Then the governments were all overthrown at once by a group known only as the New Republic.

Led by a man who never publicly revealed his face, the New Republic launched a bloody coup that spread over all the new Earths until all of them fell to its regime.  Innocent families were slaughtered on the merest hint of suspicious activity; schools full of children were bombed until there was nothing left.

Very few places were left untouched.  None were left unscarred.  Until now, their stories remained untold.

My name is Adi Meyer.  I lived through this coup, saw it to the very end.  I was there when they killed my second father.  I was there when the New Republic was brought to justice.

But I digress.  When this all started, I was barely nineteen, and had just entered college at a prestigious academy known as Brass Keep Academy.  It was well-known for its specializations in the sciences and maths, but more importantly- for me at least- it was a safe place.  My parents convinced me to go there based on the amount of safety precautions taken to assure the New Republic would not harm its students.

I know what you're thinking, and it's probably the same as what I thought.  "Famous last words," right?  Oh, if only you knew how right you are…
